Network Rail DC Traction
During CP6 Network Rail is undertaking an extensive programme of renewals on its third rail DC network in the south of England. This involves the replacement of life-expired electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, rectifiers and ancillary equipment, and the upgrade of electrical equipment to increase traction power capacity.
Permarail has extensive experience in carrying out EMC assessments for such projects in DC traction substations and TP huts across the network.
Often there is a requirement to carry out in-depth EMF field mapping exercises because due to the nature of many such sites, the risk presented by magnetic field levels to human health can be severe.
Typically Permarail is employed on such projects from the outline design stage through to commissioning, providing EMC documentation, design and installation guidance, and testing services throughout the project duration.
