Network Rail Autotransformer Sites
The electrification of existing and new Network Rail infrastructure is being made with a 25kV-0-25kV system to cater for the needs of the modern rolling stock operating at higher speeds.
The distribution works comprises the supply of electricity to the railway at substations along the route. These have to interface with the rolling stock, the adjacent signalling and telecommunications and neighbours. Permarail undertakes to manage EMC for the autotransformer substations and collate the assurance evidence.
For these substations a Project File is compiled providing details of; the substation equipment, the measures for the management and control of EMC interfaces, the results from EMC testing at a factory level and at site and the records from site visual inspections.
The EMC work is completed by the issue of a compliance statement in the Project File.
